LED Waves and Disaster Relief in Japan

Since the tragedies that unfolded in Japan last month we have seen a global outpour of support that is as moving as it is humbling. To do our part, we at LED Waves have been trying to figure out the best way to contribute to the relief effort. We’ve hatched a plan, but we’d also like your help.

From now through August, LED Waves is donating 10% of proceeds on all Nichia LED lights to Doctors Without Borders towards disaster relief in Japan. Nichia is a well-known Japanese manufacturer of LED chips – what one of our Specialists likes to refer to as “the Mercedes Benz of LEDs” – noted for superb color rendering and long lifespan.

Our line of products containing Nichia LEDs covers a wide range of uses: Under LED MR-16s are the Garvos and the Delphi; there are lots of different directional PAR lamps, and we’ve got the Stalos A60 and the Souda A70 to replace your old dimmable incandescent E26 light bulbs. We’re sure you’ll find a Nichia LED light bulb that fits your application.

Please help us in donating to Japan’s disaster relief, as well as in supporting Nichia, a major player in their country’s economy. Call the LED Waves sales team at 1(800)986-0169 for more information on products that are eligible for this cause. Don’t need a Nichia LED light right now? We still urge you to give what you can to the relief effort through a notable charity. We’ve added a button to our website that directs you to the Doctors Without Borders donation page.

While nuclear fallout and disaster relief teams are hard at work, everyday citizens are helping out by making small energy-saving changes to their lifestyle. (Having lost two nuclear reactors to the tsunami, the Tokyo Electric Power Company is operating with a 20% capacity shortfall.) At the top of Japan’s iconic Tokyo Tower is message reading “Ganbaro Nippon”. The words, spelled out in LED lights, are a fitting tribute to the brave citizens. It translates to “Carry on, Japan.” Our hearts go out to this nation.
